Insiders: Paul Atkins, prospective SEC chairman, hopes to have 'crypto mom' Hester Peirce lead cryptocurrency policy
According to FOX Business, an industry insider said that Paul Atkins, who was nominated by Trump to serve as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), recently said that he hoped that the current Republican SEC commissioner Hester Peirce, known as the "crypto mother", would lead the crypto monetary policy together with her colleague Mark Uyeda.
Hester Peirce Adopting a more friendly regulatory attitude towards cryptocurrencies and questioning the SEC's cryptocurrency related enforcement actions in the past. FOX Business previously reported that, Peirce I hope to lead an internal cryptocurrency working group, with some goals including re evaluating the institution's policy approach towards digital assets and opening up dialogue with the industry. Her term will expire in June next year, and it is currently unclear whether she wishes to be nominated again for this position.
Regarding Paul Atkins, who previously served as an SEC commissioner, returning to lead the SEC, Peirce stated on the social media platform X:
We still have a lot of work to do at the SEC to promote free markets, capital formation, investor choice, and innovation. I am pleased that Paul Atkins will be returning to lead these efforts. I worked with him during his last tenure and I can't think of anyone more suitable for this position than him
